Finished results and thoughts

Image
Our market was pretty fun, we had a concept of 'the more interesting the pose in the photo, the cooler the result.' Overall we got around 15-20 imaged each to edit, they took longer than expected due to complexity and the lighting issues we had. Here are some of the best received. All edited photos: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1609505735779297/?ref=br_rs .Mini review: Sadly someone stole a very important cable which disabled editing on the fly. The market was very fast paced but had weird spots of downtime and congestion. It ran smooth most of the time but got pretty busy in between groups coming and leaving. There was no proper flow around the market due to the shape and size of the pit. The currency was not always enforced due to the fast paced nature of the market. If I were to change anything about our booth - I would completely get rid of the actual setup. Instead I believe it would be better to take photos of people from all different angles doing a...

Graphics and Systems

Image
Ended up going with a 80's retro theme because the name of the booth sounds like a bad 80's movie. This is the overlay which we will put on each image. On the day we will be editing as many photos as possible but will not be able to do them all.

Development

Image
Luckily we were given a green screen and massive tripods to set it up on the day. This was tested and was far more efficient then the previous 'green screen.' We have also collected around 20 imaged each to Photoshop people into. Name is still undecided. I set up the green screen at home to test it out properly, here are some results. It was also set up in class under different lighting, it work well with natural light, but we do not have access to any during the market so we booked 3-4 LED kits from toystore.

Protype

Image
The Prototype was helpful to out booth. It sorted our space with interaction between the other groups. The lights used were non LED and were too warm, they were also extremely hot physically so it was noted as a safety hazard. A bad phone camera was used for the prototype market so image quality is bad, a DSLR will be used for the final market. Also worked on a few things at home including a menu. Style is set to change.

Inspiration

Image
Inspiration - The film Be Kind Rewind was recommended as a point of inspiration for our booth. It revolves around 2 guys recreating movies without spending any money, it results in a number of fast, low-fi productions which are funny and full of character. Photoshop battles - A concept where people take an image and post it to the public to see how they photoshop it into different scenarios, this can be both impressive and funny.

Green screen

We are going with the idea of a green screen, or 'transportation' booth. The idea is we will set up a big green screen with good lighting and will get people to pose while we take a photo. Editing will be done during the market. Photos will be personally sent to people after filling out a photography waiver, and potentially used on the Facebook page. We received a temporary mock up green screen for the prototype market and will only be photographing small portions of peoples bodies to transport, name is still in development.

New idea

Sadly there is already a dedicated group doing documentation and promotion, the only other roles are to set up a booth. Collaborative art project - booth ideas Replace painting with a green screen and actively edit photos of people onto different backgrounds. - space travel. Would need people taking photos, uploading and editing at a rapid pace. Clay modeling of people - place into a number of different backgrounds (miniature scale), backgrounds printed and glued inside box. Constantly evolving structure - We put a box of building materials (lego for example) and get everyone to build on top of an initial structure.
